Founded in Marrakech's historic medina, Art-Cuir was built by three women who met at a national exhibition, among the few working leather in a trade long held by men. They formed their cooperative the same week. The workshop specialises in hand-stitched Moroccan leather goods, finished with the intricate hand-braiding that has become its signature. When a royal restoration created a historic artisan centre in Marrakech, theirs was the women's cooperative chosen to receive a workshop inside it.
